![]() The plot is put together very cleverly and all the puzzle pieces set up from the start fall into place. You really grow to love them, if you did not do so yet. All of them have grown throughout the series, and have developed into interesting and unique characters. We follow Royce and Hadrian, but also Modina and Arista play important roles in the story. Just as in the previous books, the characters are great. Sullivan has done a great job of creating a good and solid foundation with the previous books in the series, allowing him to finish it off with a big and epic punch. Some of these deaths are predictable, others come as a surprise. ![]() ![]() ĭamn this book… I cried, So Much! There are quite a few characters that die. Feel free to check out my reviews for those: Theft of Swords (#1 -2) and Rise of Empire (#3 – 4). Note: this review may contain spoilers for the previous books in the series. But they didn’t account for Royce and Hadrian finally locating the Heir of Novron-or the pair’s desire to wreak havoc on the New Empire’s carefully crafted scheme. ![]() ![]() On the high holiday of Wintertide, they plan to execute two traitors (Degan Gaunt and the Witch of Melengar) as well as force the Empress into a marriage of their own design. The New Empire intends to celebrate its victory over the Nationalists with a day that will never be forgotten. ![]()
